Katrina Abell, DVM

I received my undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Tufts University before earning my veterinary degree from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. I completed a one year small animal surgical and medical internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, Rhode Island before entering the wonderful world of emergency medicine as a fulltime Emergency Doctor.

Why Emergency Medicine:
It’s fast paced, challenging, unpredictable, rewarding and fun!  You never work the same day twice!

Get to know me

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be:
To end the COVID pandemic. Wouldn’t that be a beautiful thing?!

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working:
Going on adventures with my favorite people-in the woods, at the mountains, on the water or anywhere really!

What has been the most rewarding part of your career/position:
Having an impact. As veterinarians we have the privilege of having an impact on our patients and their peoples’ lives everyday. We also have an impact on those who work with us. I love watching a colleague use a new skill that I helped them develop.

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is:
Don’t wait. Do it now.
