Why Emergency Medicine:
When people come into the ER, they are scared and concerned for their pet. They don’t know us and we don’t know them. We have to make a connection of trust right away. I am a big “people person” and I feel as though I am able to connect well with owners. I am able to explain to them clearly what is going on and help guide them in the right decisions for their pets.  I have loved emergency medicine as it has always provided such a diverse and challenging case load, not to mention the ability to perform challenging and life saving surgeries!

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working:
Hanging out with my daughter, Makenna, she is 2.5yr and full of life. I love watching her explore and learn new things.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career/position?
Getting to watch previously critically sick patients walk out the door with their families and truly saving their lives!

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is:
You can do anything you put your mind to. You may fail at first and that is okay. Just keep your head up and keep going.
