make emergency your career
Join the New ER Doctor Program

Our New ER Doctor Program is designed to transform recent grads into exceptional, highly-adept VEG ER doctors. This six-month deep dive into emergency brings meaning, fuels passion, and creates ER heroes. Doctors in the program engage in an immersive training experience: they work alongside medical directors, attend weekly rounds, and become proficient in a full suite of emergency surgeries. Through exposure to various cases—including exotics—doctors discover the unique rewards of customer-focused ER. They rediscover the hero within so they can become the kind of doctors they’ve yearned to be. New ER doctors receive advanced CE and valuable mentorship and emerge from the program feeling valued and confident. They’re excited about the future and rewarded with an attainable path to a lifelong career in emergency medicine at VEG.

DVM Externship Program

DVM externships offer short-term, hands-on experience in emergency medicine and the fast pace of the ER. Externs work alongside our expert emergency doctors and learn how to communicate with customers, diagnose emergency conditions, create treatment plans, and more! We’re now accepting students currently enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year in a DVM program at an AVMA accredited university.

Nurse Externship Program

See what it takes to work as a nurse in ER! Through VEG’s ER Veterinary Nurse Externship, students get hands-on experience in emergency medicine while working alongside our expert, credentialed veterinary nurses in the fast-paced ER. Through collaboration and a focus on patient care, students will roll up their sleeves to develop emergency skills, including taking patient vitals, triaging emerging cases, caring for hospitalized patients, processing lab samples, and more. It’s an intensive, hands-on experience that will help to shape students’ future careers in ER medicine.
