Dr. Jason Dombrosky

Medical Director

Western University of Health Sciences; California Veterinary Specialists rotating internship

During his internship, Dr. Dombrosky discovered his love for emergency medicine. With years of emergency experience in specialty hospitals, he accepted the opportunity to open his own practice for VEG in 2021. Dr. Dombrosky is proud to celebrate each anniversary of “helping people and their pets when they need it most” at VEG! Dr. Dombrosky lives in California with his wife (an equine veterinarian), three wonderful kids, and in true vet med fashion, a number of animals. Says Dr. Dombrosky, “Our days are definitely busy and revolve around pick ups, drop offs, and feeding kids and critters!”

It’s taken us some time to process everything that happened with our fur-kid, Bear. When he developed GDV (a life threatening emergency with rare chance of survival) and took him to another ER (who suggested putting him down) we chose to get a second opinion at VEG knowing time was critical. They explained all of the risks and possible outcomes, but were willing to give our guy Bear a chance of overcoming this. We can’t put into words how companionate, accommodating, and thoughtful the entire team at VEG were. Despite it being the middle of the night they were caring, explained the whole process thoroughly, and were all hands on deck to save his life. Additionally, they allowed us to stay by his side during the entire 5 hour procedure as well as the days of recovery. All of the doctors and nurses showed us an enormous amount of kindness when we were exhausted and emotionally drained. Bear can be timid and reactive, but he knew they cared about him and were helping him. He left there with a whole new family of aunts and uncles who gave him so much love and attention during his hospitalization. My partner and I daily express how much gratitude we have towards all of the staff at VEG and how they became friends to us during the short time we were there. Most importantly, we are beyond grateful for the chance to have more days with Bear who is one of the best and most important parts of our lives. There aren’t enough words for the deep gratitude we feel towards VEG and all of the staff and they will definitely be our ER of choice should we ever need it again in the future

I'm not surprised this place has close to 5 stars overall, out of 450+ reviews. I would give more than 5 if possible! My 14 y/o dog was hospitalized at VEG last week due to kidney failure. While it is of course very difficult to care for a beloved pet nearing end of life, my husband and I could not have been happier with the care she received there. She stayed a couple of nights and they had an overnight room set up for us right away. It was comfortable enough, we were so glad we could stay with her and that she wouldn't have to be alone in a kennel/crate the whole time. Everyone was so kind, gentle and loving towards Lexi, and even showed care for us. They asked if I slept OK, checked to see if I was eating, and even let me use their shower so I wouldn't have to drive all the way home. I got to be with Lexi through every procedure and greatly appreciated their transparent approach to patient care. Dr. To shared information with me using good pacing, language and terminology I could understand, she checked in several times throughout each day. She was empathic and not in a rush. Angelia was Lexi's daytime nurse and I will never forget how approachable, caring, and kind she was. Kelsey, Morgan, Dr. Kate, Dr. Alex, and two other outstanding nurses whose names I cannot remember were also on Lexi's care team and I was so impressed with everyone, I believe they went above and beyond in caring for my baby. I'm so grateful for these wonderful people and cannot thank them enough ❤️

Thank you so much to VEG for your kindness, compassion, and attention to Tony. Additionally, thank you so much for providing the option to make payments for the bill. Your hospital has amazing staff that go above and beyond for our pets. You guys care about the animals and are not in the business just to make money. And thank you for making great recommendations for vets in the area!
