I had to bring my pet rabbit into VEG on a Friday evening and I loved every person that handled his care. Not only was it nice to finally have an emergency vet option for him close by since he is considered "exotic", but to be able to get him care quickly once we got there too was amazing. Everyone who saw him from triage to the doctor seemed knowledgeable about rabbits, handled him carefully, and even offered a bowl of water and some hay to see if he might try to eat it! I also see other reviews appreciating being able to stay with your pet at this facility and I completely agree. It gave me a lot of comfort knowing I could be there for him and also see everything that was going on and they could explain what they were doing as they were doing it. It was a very quick ER visit comparatively, we were only there for about an hour and I did leave fully comfortable and confident that he had received the best care. I was given the doctor's opinions on what our options were along with the cost of each option to be able to make an informed decision that was also what the doctor and I both felt comfortable with moving forward. They had snacks for the people and as I said earlier, hay for my rabbit, and probably some food on hand for any other pets they might serve. I also noticed that the bathroom had individually wrapped tooth brushes and travel sized toothpaste for people if they needed and feminine care products. Overall I felt like they were there to serve pets AND the parents. Everyone was so kind and considerate and ready to answer any questions I had. Hopefully I will never have to be back but they are a fantastic option in case you are ever in the unfortunate circumstance to need emergency care for your baby.

I can’t say enough about how pleased I with my experience here. I live in a neighboring county and had never been here previously but from the time I stepped in the door with my puppy Jessie, I felt like everything was focused on us. It is not uncommon for veterinary offices take your pet from you to another room for assessment or treatment. Here they let you stay with your pet throughout the entire process. I felt like Jessie’s illness was due to a new food but she was quite sick and the staff functioned very well as a team to take care of not only her but also making sure I didn’t need anything. Jessie was hospitalized for almost 24 hours and I was able to stay with her the whole time in a private room which was amazing. She could rest in a bedroom-like setting with me which she was used to. Consultations were made as her situation unfolded but they determined the cause of her problem and initiated treatment. They kept me informed every step of the way regarding test results and changes in care plan. The dynamic of VEG is focused on the patient and family in a way I’ve never experienced elsewhere and I would highly recommend them to anyone. They combine clinical competence with compassion and empathy to help support you through a stressful situation and I thank them for being there for us!

There are truly no words strong enough to express the gratitude we feel for Dr. David Balinsky. When our sweet dog Luna was bitten in the neck by a copperhead, we were devastated and terrified. Her condition was critical, and it was one of the scariest moments of our lives. Dr. Balinsky immediately stepped in when we arrived at VEG and worked incredibly hard to keep her alive—his urgency, expertise, and calm under pressure made all the difference. He didn’t just treat her; he fought for her. Even when the odds looked uncertain, he stayed focused, determined, and genuinely compassionate. Throughout the entire process, we also greatly appreciated his honesty. He never sugarcoated Luna’s condition, but he always communicated with clarity, empathy, and hope. Knowing we could trust him completely brought us a sense of calm during an otherwise extremely overwhelming situation. What has meant the most to us is that his care hasn’t stopped at the emergency. He has continued to follow her case closely and remains deeply involved in her recovery. Every step of the way, he has gone above and beyond—checking in, making thoughtful medical decisions, and treating Luna like she was his own dog. Thanks to Dr. Balinsky, Luna is healing and regaining her strength. His dedication, integrity, and heart have given us more time with our girl, and we’ll never forget that. If you’re looking for a veterinarian who is not only incredibly skilled but also truly dedicated, compassionate, and trustworthy, Dr. Balinsky is that rare kind of doctor. We are forever grateful.
